Norman Clyde Glacier and the Middle Palisade Glacier dominate the high-altitude landscape of this eastern Sierra Nevada quadrangle in 2012. The area is defined by massive peaks and glacial remnants, with Palisade Crest and Middle Palisade marking the jagged horizon. Hikers and mountaineers are guided by a network of trails leading from the Big Pine Creek South Fork Trailhead near Glacier Lodge toward the Upper Basin. Numerous alpine water bodies, including Palisade Lakes, Tinemaha Lake, and Elinor Lake, are fed by snowmelt and seasonal creeks like Tinemaha Cr. The map illustrates a recreation-focused wilderness corridor, anchored by the Big Pine Creek Campground and the First Falls Campground, providing access to the steep ascents of Split Mountain and Mount Tinemaha.
