Springfield serves as the hub of this Washington County landscape, where the confluence of several prominent ridges including Armory Hill, Cemetery Hill, and Mackville Hill dictates the layout of the local road network. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the Beech Fork and its numerous tributaries such as Seibert Creek, Mill Creek, and Pleasant Run. This drainage pattern created the small valleys where several outlying communities took root, including Jimtown, Rineltown, and Simstown.
