Glacial lake basins and prairie wetlands define this rural landscape in Pope County at the start of the twenty-first century. The intricate hydrography of the region is anchored by the Chippewa River, which meanders through the western portion of the quadrangle, while the Little Chippewa River drains the eastern edge. Local water management is evident at the Osterberg Lake Dam and the Lybeck Lake Dam, regulating flow in a region dotted with numerous named bodies of water such as Abrahamson Lake, Rosby Lake, and Irgens Lake.
