Stillwater Mountain overlooks a dense network of Adirondack waterways and wetlands within Herkimer County. The landscape is defined by the massive Stillwater Reservoir in the northeast and the Independence River winding through the southern reaches. Numerous smaller water bodies like Moose Pond, Lennon Ponds, and Sunday Lake are scattered across the terrain, connected by a web of brooks and creeks including Sunday Creek and Hitchcock Creek.
