The Tulare Co Kern Co Boundary Line divides this San Joaquin Valley landscape, surveyed just as agricultural and transit networks were solidifying in the late 1920s. The region is defined by two major competing rail corridors: the Southern Pacific running through the settlement of Stone and toward Delano, and the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe passing through Kernell further west.
