Strawberry Mtn and the surrounding Strawberry Range dominate this portion of the Malheur National Forest in Grant County. The high-altitude landscape is defined by a concentration of alpine waters, including Little Strawberry Lake, Slide Lake, and High Lake, connected by dramatic vertical drops like Strawberry Falls and Slide Falls. The terrain is characterized by distinctive geological formations such as the Rabbit Ears and Sheep Rock, while the southern reaches descend toward Buckhorn Meadow and the headwaters of Bear Cr. Throughout this mountain block, numerous springs including Indian Springs and McNaughton Spring feed the complex drainage system of Strawberry Cr and Canyon Cr, illustrating the vital watershed role this region plays for the surrounding high desert.
