The industrial and agricultural landscape of LaSalle County is anchored here by the northern reaches of Streator and the smaller village of Grand Ridge. The Vermilion River carves a significant path through the southwestern corner of the quadrangle, joined by numerous tributaries including Otter Creek, Wolf Creek, and Eagle Cr. This network of waterways historically influenced the placement of early settlements and the subsequent development of the regional rail and road infrastructure.
