The Custer National Forest encompasses much of this southeastern Montana landscape, where the border of Rosebud and Big Horn counties meets. The terrain is defined by a dense network of coulees and draws, including the evocatively named Gloomy Glenn Draw, Rough Draw, and Feeback Draw. Water sources are critical in this arid environment, marked by isolated springs like Rim Rock Spring and Dutchman Spring, alongside cattle-country infrastructure such as Haywood Reservoir and Snyder Reservoir.
