The boundary between Okanogan Co and Ferry Co bisects this highland region, where the Okanogan National Forest meets the Colville National Forest. The landscape is defined by its drainages and peaks, including Copper Mtn, Sheep Mtn, and Coco Mtn. Water is a central feature of the topography, with Swan Lake, Ferry Lake, and Fish Lake concentrated in the south, while Long Lake and the Copper Lakes occupy the north. A complex network of Forest Service roads provides access to the backcountry, including Swan Lake Rd and Old Scatter Creek Rd. Of particular note for modern explorers is the route of the Pacific NW National Scenic Trail, which winds through the eastern portion of the quadrangle, crossing Tenmile Cr and passing near the base of Swan Butte.
