Petersville marks a point of historical activity in this drainage basin, situated north of the prominent rising terrain of the Little Peters Hills. The landscape is dominated by a complex network of wetlands and braided watercourses, where the wide Kahiltna River flows through the southwestern corner of the quadrangle. This area of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough illustrates the remote transition between low-lying river flats and the upland ridges that separate major glacial drainages.
