The Elliott Highway cuts across the northwest corner of this Interior Alaska landscape, serving as the primary corridor through an otherwise undeveloped expanse of the Unorganized Borough. Much of the terrain is defined by the prominent Dugan Hills, which rise in the southern portion of the quadrangle. These uplands give way to a complex drainage system where Hutlitakwa Cr and Lochenyatth Cr wind through the valleys. The map illustrates the classic interior topography of the region, where high ridges and creek beds dictate the movement of any seasonal travel. This 2017 study captures the area's characteristic isolation and the significant geological footprint of the southern hills before they descend toward the river basins of the Tanana region.
