Tatums, an historically significant all-black town, is the central focus of this landscape in Carter County. Located in the northwestern portion of the map, the settlement is surrounded by a network of rural roads such as Napa Rd and Quinton Rd. The terrain transitions into the western fringes of the Arbuckle Mountains in the northeast, where the land is drained by Wildhorse Cr and Massey Cr.

Further south, the community of Pooleville sits near the intersection of Ranch Rd and Pooleville Rd. This map serves as an excellent resource for genealogical research, documenting several local burial sites including Tatus Cem, Pooleville Cem, and the more remote Oil Spring Cem. The drainage patterns of the area are clearly defined by numerous local branches, including Russell Pretty Br and Flag Br, which flow through the sections of T1S and T2S.
