Taylor Peak and the high ridgelines of the Bitterroot Range define this high-altitude landscape along the border of Idaho and Montana. The 2020 map documents a transition from the Kaniksu National Forest in the north to the Coeur d'Alene National Forest in the south, following the rugged spine where Sanders and Shoshone counties meet. While permanent settlements are sparse, the terrain is marked by a network of OHV trails and forestry roads, including the E Little Guard Ohv and Haystack Mountain Ohv.
