About this map

Piermont Creek and Gordan Creek descend from the high western terrain into the open drainage basins of White Pine County. This 1980s landscape is defined by the prominent Third Butte on the eastern edge and the intermittent flow of Spring Valley Creek through the center of the sheet. A large, distinct Depression marks the central valley floor, illustrating the complex internal drainage patterns characteristic of the Great Basin. The map provides a detailed view of the natural watercourses and topography before more modern developments, preserving the hydrologic state of the region as recorded during field checks in the early 1980s.
