Three Lakes Country defines this high-plateau landscape in Wallowa County, where a cluster of small water bodies including Marshman Lake, Sprudy Lake, Nuxall Lake, and Hayden Lake gather in the southern reach of the quadrangle. The terrain is characterized by deep drainage systems that feed into the larger river basins, most notably the several forks of Lightning Creek and the headwaters of Little Sheep Creek.
