This transitional terrain between the Pinal and Pima County line is defined by a complex network of drainage systems, including Guild Wash, Chirreon Wash, and Sausaulito Creek. These ephemeral watercourses descend from the central Falcon Divide, carving deep features like Derrio Canyon and Fresnal Canyon.

Signs of early 20th-century resource extraction and ranching are scattered throughout the quadrangle. Several Mine Shafts appear in the northern foothills, while vital water sources for cattle or mining operations are identified at Cottonwood Spring and Cochie Spring. The survival of the Riddle Windmill and Crow Windmill underscores the importance of groundwater in this arid environment before modern development reached the area.
