The town of Tracy sits at the northern edge of this southwestern Minnesota survey, situated along the prominent upland known as the Coteau des Prairies. The landscape is defined by the intersection of three counties—Lyon, Redwood, and Murray—illustrating how political boundaries were established across this agricultural prairie. Local transit is anchored by Us-14, which runs east-west through the town. Outside the residential grid of streets like Craig Ave and Front St, the land transitions to a systematic grid of township roads and drainage features such as Judicial Ditch Number Twenty A and Robbins Slough, which were essential for managing the high-altitude prairie wetlands for cultivation.
