The Mississippi River forms the southwestern boundary of this region, where the state lines of Wisconsin and Minnesota meet. The river landscape is punctuated by prominent riverside terrain such as Trempealeau Mtn, Eagle Bluff, and Bradys Bluff, which rise sharply above Trempealeau Bay and the backwaters of First Lake. Smaller settlements like Centerville and the edge of Galesville anchor the northern reaches of the quadrangle.
