About this map

Humboldt National Forest dominates this landscape in the eastern portion of Nye County, where the high elevations of the Grant Range meet the expansive floor of Railroad Valley. The central terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, rising toward Troy Peak and Timber Mtn. Water distribution is seasonal and dictated by the steep topography, with drainages such as Troy Canyon, Little Meadows Cr, and Scofield Canyon carrying runoff toward the valley floor. To the southwest, Ox Spring and Ox Spring Wash provide localized water sources, while Bordoli Cr marks the lower slopes. This modern survey illustrates the persistent isolation of the region, where the historic Midland Trail Rd skirts the valley edge, providing one of the few established access points into this part of the Great Basin wilderness.
