Silver Lake sits at the southern edge of this high desert terrain, where the drainage of Silver Creek and Murdock Creek meets the marshy basins of Lake County. The landscape is defined by volcanic features and significant topographical breaks, most notably Tuff Butte and the prominent Table Rock to the east. These formations create natural corridors such as Arrow Gap and Horning Gap, which have historically influenced movement through this part of the Oregon backcountry.
