The Cabinet Mountains dominate the eastern reaches of this Idaho landscape, where the high peaks of Black Mtn and Twentymile Peak watch over a network of forest drainages. The topography transitions sharply from the elevated ridges of the Kaniksu National Forest down toward the Purcell Trench in the west. This transition is marked by numerous watercourses, including Twentymile Creek and Brown Creek, which cut through the steep terrain.
