Twin Lakes Mountain and the surrounding high-altitude drainage basins of the Umpqua National Forest define this 2014 survey. The landscape is a network of ridges and watercourses, including the prominent Twin Lakes and the secluded Alligator Lake to the south. Historically significant mountain meadows such as Sheep Prairie and Cow Prairie are preserved in the western half of the quadrangle, serving as landmarks amidst the dense forest. The terrain is marked by numerous peaks like Doehead Mtn and Buckhead Mtn, while the southern reaches feature the notable Deep Dick Falls along the Black Rock Fork. A complex system of forest development roads and specialized trails, including the Prong TS and Mink TS, provides access to these high ridges and remote water bodies like Mud Lake.
