Twin Springs and the surrounding high-desert terrain define this corner of Nye County, where water sources dictated the patterns of movement and ranching. The presence of Cane Spring and the drainage of Twin Springs Slough suggest the critical importance of these isolated wet points in an otherwise arid landscape. This modern survey shows the geographic transition between the Pancake Range to the northeast and the Reveille Range to the south, separated by the expansive flats of Hot Creek Valley and Reveille Valley.
