About this map

Carbon Creek provides the primary topographic interest in this high-latitude terrain of the North Slope. Flowing through the northeastern corner of the quadrangle, the creek's drainage is etched into a landscape defined by the Public Land Survey System grids, including t2s r29w and t2s r30w. The relief shown here illustrates the gradual transition of the Arctic coastal plain as it rises toward the interior foothills, where elevation contours reveal the subtle draws and ridges that dictate the flow of seasonal water. Produced with data from the Alaska Dept. of Transportation and the Bureau of Land Management, this map serves as a fundamental record of the undeveloped wilderness and administrative boundaries in a region where few permanent settlements exist.
