The Canadian River cuts through the southern reaches of this landscape where the borders of Ellis, Roger Mills, and Dewey counties converge. The terrain is defined by a dense network of drainage canyons and creeks, including the systems of Turkey Cr and S Turkey Cr. The land use is characterized by a series of engineered water management features, most notably Hutchison Number 5 Reservoir, Hutchison Number 4 Reservoir, and Hutchison Number 2 Reservoir, which sit among naming-conventions like Cinnamon Canyon and Mulberry Canyon. A central historical point of interest is the Stone Cem, located near the headwaters of Turkey Cr. The gridded road system, including routes like Ew 62 and n2000 RD, provides access to the high ground between the various canyon systems such as Dry Canyon and Spring Canyon.
