Wagon Canyon serves as the central drainage of this high-altitude landscape where the borders of Socorro and Lincoln counties meet. This 2020 survey documents a rugged network of tributary drainages including Lutz Canyon and Taylor Canyon to the north, which carve through the high desert terrain. The Public Land Survey System grid lines are clearly marked across townships T6S through T8S, providing a essential reference for land ownership and boundary research in this part of New Mexico. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, Long Canyon, Sixshooter Canyon, and Quail Canyon illustrate the complex erosional patterns characteristic of the region. The absence of modern development highlights the primitive nature of these corridors, which likely served as historic passage routes through the mountains for early travelers and ranchers.
