Wakley Peak and Elkhorn Mtn dominate the southern portion of this high-elevation landscape, where the Bannock Range defines the drainage patterns of the eastern Idaho backcountry. This 2013 survey illustrates a terrain defined by deep watercourses and numerous natural water sources, including Wursten Spring, Shrives Spring, and Cottrel Spring. Much of the quadrangle is situated within the Caribou National Forest, where the boundary between Bannock and Oneida counties follows the ridgelines and valley floors.
