About this map

Fishlake National Forest occupies the northwestern corner of this landscape, where the high terrain of The Cove and Water Hollow Benches gives way to the lower drainage basins. The area is defined by a series of distinct alluvial and erosional forms, including the prominent Walker Flat and the adjacent Saleratus Benches. This region of the Sevier and Emery county line shows a complex network of dry washes and perennial streams, most notably Ivie Cr, which carves through the Ivie Creek Bench. Transportation into these canyons is marked by specialized routes such as Coal Mine Rd and W Consol Rd 5, reflecting the industrial and resource extraction history of the central Utah coal fields. From Windy Peak in the south to the northern reaches of Christiansen Wash, the map provides a clear look at the transition between national forest lands and the open valley of Gilson Valley.
