Waring and the smaller community of Welfare are the primary hubs in this central Texas landscape, where the Guadalupe River carves a winding path through the limestone hills. The 2010 survey reflects a rural region defined by large ranch properties and a network of named hollows, including Coffee Hollow and First Coffee Hollow. Evidence of long-standing family landholdings is preserved in the naming of several local burial grounds, such as Insall Cemetery, Ammann Cemetery, and Zoeller Cemetery.
