The Mohawk Valley landscape is defined by the vital movement of water through the arid Yuma County desert, centered on the historic town of Wellton. The Gila River meanders across the northern half of the region, while the substantial Wellton Mohawk Canal provides the essential irrigation infrastructure that supports local agriculture south of the river. To the north, the terrain rises sharply into the Muggins Mountains, dominated by Muggins Peak and the drainage of Morgan Wash.
