Weston and its surrounding ranchlands are defined by the meandering path of the Little Powder River as it flows northward through Campbell County. This 2012 survey captures a landscape of generational ranching and water management in the high plains, evidenced by named homesteads and stock water resources. Family legacies are etched into the terrain at the Kennedy Ranch, Norfolk Ranch, Hauber Ranch, and Gleason Ranch. The necessity of water in this semi-arid environment is clear through the distribution of small reservoirs such as Nettie Reservoir, Pippin Reservoir, and the Snyder Homestead Reservoir. Transportation is limited to a network of rural routes, including Rocky Point Rd and Soda Wells Rd, which connect these dispersed operations to the small settlement at Weston. Several drainages, such as Pine Tree Draw and Camp Cr, feed into the river system, shaping the topography of the cattle country.
