The Green River flows through a series of pronounced alluvial bends and narrow canyons in this 2012 survey of Sweetwater County. The northern reach is characterized by distinct river bottoms such as Scott Bottom, Whalen Bottom, and Cordwood Bottom, while the southern portion of the map is dominated by the expanding waters of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This transition from a traditional river channel to a massive impoundment within the Flaming Gorge Natl Rec Area illustrates the managed hydrology of the Upper Colorado River Basin.
