Leech Lake dominates the northern reaches of this landscape, its expansive waters punctuated by Bear Island and the smaller Little Bear Island. The settlement of Brevik sits along the eastern shore of the lake, serving as a focal point for local travel where Co Rd 39 NE and Pine Dale Rd converge. Much of the southern and eastern territory is protected within the Chippewa National Forest, a terrain defined by a dense network of smaller interior water bodies including Three Island Lake, Marshall Lake, and Silver Lake.
