Whites City sits at the southern edge of this survey, surrounded by the high-elevation terrain of the Helena National Forest. The landscape is defined by a dense network of gulches and creeks, indicating a long history of water-based activity and prospecting. Notable peaks like Needham Mountain, Cayuse Mtn, and Bilk Mountain overlook a complex topography where the Broadwater and Meagher County line zig-zags through the drainages. Evidence of mineral exploration is scattered across the slopes, from the Schaben Mine to various unnamed mines and prospects found along Hereford Creek and Long Gulch. The road network is sparse, consisting largely of primitive 4wd routes that follow the winding paths of White Gulch and Little Bridge Gulch, reflecting the isolation of this portion of the Townsend Ranger District at the start of the 21st century.
