Dixie National Forest boundaries encompass much of this canyon-carved landscape, where high-altitude drainages converge toward the Escalante River corridor. The geography is defined by a series of deep cuts including Meadow Canyon, Deer Canyon, and the appropriately named The Box near the northeastern edge. Water management is central to the area's utility, anchored by the Wide Hollow Reservoir, which collects runoff from Wide Hollow before it reaches the main river system.
