The N Fork Smoky Hill River meanders across this high plains landscape at the border of Sherman and Wallace counties. The terrain is defined by a series of significant drainage features and topographic depressions, most notably Wild Horse Draw and the distinctively named Kolacny Canyon. This 2015 survey shows a rural infrastructure dominated by a geometric grid of county roads, such as Co RD 19 and Emerald Elm Rd, which provide access to the isolated ranchlands and agricultural operations typical of Western Kansas. In the southern reaches, the Bellamy Farm Airport sits near Blindman Canyon, representing the vital role of private aviation in managing these expansive prairie properties. Further east, Gardner Draw cuts through the township lines, illustrating the natural water runoff patterns that have shaped the local geography over generations.
