About this map

Conococheague Creek and its many winding tributaries, including the West Branch Conococheague Creek and Licking Creek, define the agricultural and geological landscape of this portion of Franklin County. Recorded originally from 1943 aerial photography, the landscape is punctuated by a dense network of early rural educational centers such as Franklin Sch, Highland Sch, and California Sch. These small schoolhouses serve as primary landmarks for the dispersed farmstead communities between Williamson and Markes.
