The NASA Shuttle Landing Facility anchors the southern reaches of this coastal landscape, situated just below the small settlement of Wilson. This area of the Florida coast represents a unique intersection of advanced aerospace infrastructure and protected wilderness. Much of the eastern shoreline is preserved within the Canaveral National Seashore, extending from Klondike Beach south toward Playalinda Beach.
