Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge and the Winema National Forest converge in this high-altitude wetland landscape. The hydrologic network is dominated by the Williamson River, which feeds into the marshy expanses of Wocus Bay and Little Wocus Bay. This environment transitions abruptly from the open water and seasonal marshes of Klamath Marsh to the timbered heights of Wocus Butte and Little Wocus Butte, illustrating the dramatic shifts in elevation that characterize the eastern slope of the Cascades.
