Woodgate sits as the primary settlement on this landscape, positioned where the Lewis Co Oneida Co boundary meets a complex network of glacial lakes and river systems. The northern portion of the quadrangle is dominated by the Moose River, which features the curiously named Froth Hole and is spanned by the Moose River Road Extension Bridge. Much of this terrain is protected within the Adirondack Park Preserve, reflecting a landscape defined by water and forest rather than intensive industrial development.
