Woodville serves as the primary settlement hub for this portion of Newaygo County, situated at the edge of the Manistee National Forest. The landscape is a complex network of wetlands and small water bodies, including the Little S Br Pere Marquette River and the S Br White River, which drain the numerous lakes and swamps like Oxford Swamp and Kipney Lake. This environment supports a recreational economy visible in the dense concentration of the Hungerford trail system, such as the Hungerford Bike Trail and various horse trail segments.
