About this map

Floral Hills and the narrow Floral Pass dominate the northern terrain of this coastal Alaskan landscape, where glacial movement dictates the drainage patterns. This area is defined by the massive Lucia Glacier and the edge of the Marvine Glacier, which feed a network of braided waterways including the Grand Wash River, Kwik Stream, and Lucia Stream. Much of the land falls under federal protection, split between the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Preserve and the Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park. The topography reveals the raw transition from high ice-fields to the outwash plains, centered around the prominent Lucia Nunatak rising above the glacial ice.
