Younts Peak and the surrounding high-altitude drainage basins of the Absaroka Range define this high country landscape along the continental divide in northwestern Wyoming. As of 2015, this area remains a critical watershed where the headwaters of major river systems diverge. The S Fork Yellowstone River flows westward from the peak, while the S Fork Shoshone River and Marston Cr drain the eastern slopes.
