About this map

Deep groundwater resources and infrastructure projects define the landscape of this corner of northeast Colorado during the early 1970s. Numerous instances of the label Well are distributed across the terrain, indicating a high reliance on subsurface water for agricultural or industrial purposes. The presence of a Pipeline cutting diagonally through the western and southeastern sections of the quadrangle suggests the transport of fuel or water across this prairie region. Modern utilities are represented by a Substa located in the southern portion of the sheet. This survey, based on 1970 aerial photography, provides a detailed view of the section lines and surveying grid that organized the rural development of Yuma County during this period.
