Transitioning east and south, the terrain shifts abruptly toward the Dessert Force Range and the Yuma hills. This rugged area is dominated by the Luke Air Force Range, where a mapped target and a borrow pit indicate the military and industrial utility of the open desert. A winding Jeep Trail provides the only passage through the lower elevations, contrasting the straight lines of the residential and farming blocks to the north.
