Zaca Lake sits at the heart of this mountainous terrain in northern Santa Barbara County, surrounded by the high ridges of the San Rafael Mountains and the Sierra Madre Mountains. The landscape is defined by its deep drainages, including the Sisquoc River which flows across the northern portion of the map, carving through Alkali Canyon and Wildhorse Canyon. The 2015 topography illustrates a remote wilderness within the Los Padres National Forest, where water sources like Hunter Spring and Sulphur Spring remain vital landmarks in the dry canyons.
