About this map

The Blue Ridge Divide and the Saluda Mountains dominate this 1940s survey of the rugged border between North Carolina and South Carolina. At the heart of the landscape is Lake Summit, a reservoir created by the Green River which powers the local Power Plant and Surge Tank. The settlement of Tuxedo and the neighboring Zirconia (Tuxedo Sta) serve as primary hubs, connected to the wider region by the Southern railroad and the historic Dixie Highway.
