Based on topography by the Hayden Surveys, the landscape is defined by the massive uplift of the Abajo Mts, where prominent summits like Abajo Peak and Mt Linnaeus overlook a network of deep drainages. To the west, the high plateau of Elk Ridge features the distinctive Orejas del Oso landmarks.
