Lyon County State Lake serves as a central geographic anchor in this section of rural Kansas, its waters held by the Lyon County State Lake Dam. The landscape is defined by a dense network of watercourses, including the curiously named One Hundred and Fortytwo Mile Creek, which meanders through the eastern portion of the quadrangle. Other tributaries like Duck Creek, Badger Creek, and Taylor Creek drain the surrounding prairie, illustrating the complex hydrology of the region before these waters eventually meet larger basins.
