The Mississippi River corridor dominates this Pike County landscape, carving a complex network of side channels and islands. Low-lying terrain along the western bank is defined by extensive sloughs and backwaters, including Negro Slough and Shafer Slough, which weave between Slim Island and the mainland. The small settlement of Annada sits inland from the river's edge, positioned near the crossing of Guinns Creek.

To the north and west, the topography rises toward Kissenger Hill and the community of Kissenger. Evidence of local heritage and early land use is found in the scattered hollows and family-named features such as Stearns Hollow and Infidel Hollow. Historical burials are documented at Long Cemetery and Poor Cemetery, while the river's navigational importance is marked by features like Riprap Landing and the numerous named towheads and bars that shift with the current.
